Happy International Women’s Day! This is a day we celebrate the achievements of women all around the world. And what a year it has been!
Starting with the #WomensMarch last January, followed by the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, momentum is with us. We’ve seen record numbers of women getting involved. Many are raising their voices and demanding change. And others – including myself – are running for public office to make change from the inside.
According to EMILY’s List – a group who supports women running for public office – there has been a huge surge of women running. Over 30,000 women have contacted them about running for public office. These women are running to lead at every level of our government. From city council to the state house to the white house.
Now, more than ever, there’s a strong call-to-action to press forward and make progress towards gender parity. The theme for International Women’s Day is to #PressforProgress. A strong call to come together and be gender inclusive in all parts of our communities and government.
Will you join me today and pledge to #PressforProgress in Kansas and beyond?
I will #PressforProgress by fighting on behalf of women and families in Kansas. I’ll make sure decisions about women’s lives are made by women. And I will make sure the issues important to women – schools, healthcare, jobs – are front and center.
Women all over this great state are energized – and ready to change the future of Kansas! Let’s do it together.
